Year in Review – My Best Dramas for 2016

Best 2016 Dramas I Watched!

I always enjoy doing these end of the year posts. Why? My list never looks the same as everyone else. As I watch so many different genres and dramas from all the Asian countries, my list never looks the same. Another thing I notice is that I rarely like the popular ones. I think at my age, I get bored very easily with some of the drama tropes and romances. It’s a rarity that they even make it to my list! This year, for the first time ever, I watched more than double the number of Japanese dramas than Korean, I hardly watched any Thai lakorns and the Chinese dramas this year (that I’ve watched), didn’t bubble to the top!

Death Cash (2016) – Episode 7

The Death Cash curse goes all out for this episode. We have a scare with my sweetheart, Koyume, Mari is playing house with Professor Zaitsu (Toshio Kakei), and we continue to hold him culpable for all the death and destruction so far. So, why wasn’t Mari listening to Yuka this episode? Watch and see as this drama slowly winds down and there aren’t too many bodies left now. (For cast and synopsis information see Episode 1)

I swear, I cannot believe not many people are watching this drama! As a big Final Destination movie fan, there are so many nuances of this drama that really reminds me of the movie. We have a story; old wives tale if you will, a person who sees death before it happens and the people that are trying to stop all of this from happening. Win! Win! Death Cash Episode 5 – The Story of Natsuko

We finally get to hear the origins of the death cash curse. The story is a pretty sad one when we hear it. So sad, I really had a hard time finding sympathy for the villagers of Eguiriba. As Shino continues to unravel the mystery, stupid Haitani bites off more than he can chew! (For cast and synopsis information see Episode 1)

So, how do you convince people around you that your friends are dying mysteriously and you’ve seen it all? Well, this episodes shows you no matter how hard you try to convince people that there is something sinister going on and that the all mighty Yen makes fools (and dead) of everyone regardless of what you say. Death Cash Episode 3 – A Really Sad Death!

The students keep dropping like flies and no one seems to think it is strange except for Yuka and the Detective! Wait, someone should be seriously questioning all of the Yen bills flying around. Wait, how many are suspicious of the Professor at this point? Is it just me? Really? Regardless, this death got to me! Why? The people that are left behind is why!
