Marathon Worthy – Decoded (2016)

Decoded (2016)
解密 / Jie Mi

This Chinese drama was definitely not on anyone’s radar. I happened to see it pop up while on the Viki website and after reading the synopsis, I had to watch it. The period in which the drama takes place is one of the times which not a lot of information has been told to us here in the U.S. Yes, before you say it, it probably has been sanitized and cleared through proper channels; but life for the Chinese people during the 30-50s is really an unknown period which is why it is so fascinating to watch for me. Year In Review – Best 2015 Thai Dramas I Watched

2015 Dramas

I’ve been remiss in writing this year review for 2015 for one reason alone: It is getting harder and longer to watch quality video and English subbed Thai Lakorn dramas. There has been so many sweeps on my various resources that most of us use or the time that it has taken for the subs to be completed is taking longer and longer. However, until most of us learn the language….so we wait! Continue reading

Japanese Drama Spring Season 2016 – What I Watched! Or What I Had Time To Watch!

Japanese Spring 2016 Dramas

Japanese Spring 2016 Dramas

As I sit here watching a movie that is making me jump left and right, I will try to write my Spring 2016 thoughts for the Japanese Spring season for 2016. This is one of those rare seasons where I truly watched one drama from each of the genres that I like. The thing I like about Japanese dramas is that they are short and sweet! There is no dragging of plot lines and non-sensical stories that normally have me complaining profusely.

The Spring represented some of my favorites coming back to the scene: Jun, Shota, Charlotte, and even Haruka! Another thing that the Spring brought to me was the boys! All the lovely idols boys! Before this spring, I only knew EXILE but now I know J Soul Brothers, DOBERMAN INFINITY, and Kozmic Blue. Here we go! Continue reading

Japanese Drama Winter Season 2016 – What I Watched! Or What Excited Me!

Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai Sumika Sumire Kaito Yamaneko Mars

Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai

This winter season fare was a big departure from the type of dramas that I usually watch. Considering the Fall season 2015 which consisted of murder/mayhem and the like, to come into the winter season and find that the dramas I liked are dominated by romance and comedy is really unprecedented for me. I am loving the fact that I am find more and more J-Dramas than before, thanks to Facebook groups that are in the know; however, there seems to be a lot more dramas being subtitled simply because of popular actors, manga/anime based stories or idol actors coming to the small screen. Whatever the reason, I feel we watchers definitely benefited this season. Of the 11 (yes, 11) Winter Season 2016 dramas that I watch, these 4 are my top picks. Those that know me will be surprised (or not). here goes…. Continue reading

Drama Review: Evil Minds (2015)~If You Dare!!!!!

Evil Minds (2015)

Nothing could have prepared me for this drama. Nothing! No one was talking about it! Just so happened that my drama twinnie and I noticed it on the same day (that’s why we are twins) and both watched the first episode. She said watch it, I told her I was about to. Over a 3-4 day period, we had watched the entire drama, all 24 episodes and we were totally enthralled, immersed into the madness, and completely hooked! Read on… Continue reading

TVB – The Other Asian Dramas and Why I Like Them? (2016)

TVB - The Other Asian Dramas

TVB – The Other Asian Dramas

Fans of TVB dramas know all the actors. I admit I am slowly learning their names and definitely see the allure to these actors. Favorites like Joe Ma, Ben Wong, Louis Cheung, Kevin Cheng, and Roger Kwok are the names that first come to my mind because I’ve seen them the most. Admittedly, I have none of the women as favorites yet but give me time. Continue reading

My Top 10 Japanese Drama Picks for 2015 Continues

My Top 10 Japanese Drama Picks for 2015 Continues

Yes, I had to take a rest. It took a couple of days to let my mind simmer and relax. I had no idea that I would be so long winded. Blame it on the fact that most of these dramas, I never wrote a review for even though I had the best intentions to do so. So, let’s continue with the rest of my picks. Again, I don’t necessarily expect agreement but as most of this lists are opinion posts, here we go again! (Check out Nelly’s blog, she might have rated dramas with **) Continue reading

Painless (2015) – Episode 10 and Final Thoughts

As we come to the end of the drama and all of the Fall season shows are ending; Painless ended as you expected. There were no surprises and I found the ending to be quite tame. However, I will not say I was disappointed by the entire drama. For cast and synopsis information see Episode 1)

Final Thoughts – Gochisousan (2013)

Gochisousan Japanese TV Serial 2013

“Gochisousama deshita”, a term widely used after eating to express appreciation for the food. “Gochisou” literally means, “a feast.” And a feast is what this drama is; a feast on family, life, and most of all, a feast of great acting. While I have seen Higashide Anne (nee Watanabee) a couple of times (recently in Date), but this is the first time watching Higashide Masahiro in a complete drama (he was recently in Hana Moyu)! Together, it makes sense why these two would eventually marry! Read on….

Thanksgiving 2015 Marathon – Wu Xin:The Monster Killer

Wu Xin:The Monster Killer (2015)

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to even watch or like this drama! As my obvious drama watching has been heavily laden with Chinese and Japanese dramas and my original plans to begin another daily K-Drama (Sweet Home, Sweet Honey) was sidelined, I hesitantly started watching Wu Xin:The Monster Killer. Three days later and practically watching nothing else BUT this drama, I have come to say that not only did I like it; I LOVED IT!! Read on… Continue reading
