Movie Monday – Drama Special ~ The Girl In The Frame (2014)

Starring: Choi Jong Won as Min Seong Taek, Jung In Sun as Min Se Yeong, Jin Kyung as Seo Ji Eun, Lee Jae Kyoon as Sang Rim, and Jung In Ki as Park Cheol Ho

Rating: PG

Running Time: 70 min

Twinkies: 3 stars

Synopsis: Seong Taek is a 70-year-old man who convinces everyone in the neighborhood fto agree to the redevelopment into a fancy new apartment complex so that he has something to leave for his daughter and granddaughter. But the day before he is to move so that they start construction, something unbelievable happens to his granddaughter.

Musings: At first, you are not sure where the movie is going. You wonder whether Se Yeong has runaway, died, or is just missing. As you would expect, it is kind of strange for Seong Taek to be walking around the town talking to a picture, sleeping with it and basically doing strange things. The first thing that comes to your mind is “What is Seong Taek’s mental state?” As you continue to watch, that comes clear.

What becomes abundantly clear about this drama special is two things: A man coming to grips with his illness, Alzheimer’s and understanding what exactly happened to his granddaughter. Some might find this strange watching a man talk to a voice coming out of a photograph for 2/3 the movie but it is interesting as the full story unfolds. My only complaint is the ending minutes did have me a little confused. But as it is short and sweet, just go with the it! It’s Drama Special Magic!

No Trailer is available; however, the movie is available on YouTube.

  1. Interesting movie. Thanks for the review, Bel! I totally forgot to create a post for this last night before I went to sleep. I blame daylight savings! šŸ™‚ Anyhow, I’ll remedy that oversight once I get home tonight. Thanks again!
